About Volknut Engineering
Volknut Engineering builds rugged marine technology for real-world water environments. Our work is guided by a simple belief: the ocean rewards reliability, not complexity.
We design systems meant to endure harsh conditions, remain serviceable in the field, and perform with purpose. Environmental responsibility is not a side note to that work—it is one of the primary reasons we build these systems in the first place.
Our name and system titles draw from Norse tradition, reflecting the resilience, strength, and respect for the sea that shape our approach to design.
Volknut Engineering is currently focused on two core systems.
The Ægir System is our flagship commercial platform, developed to deliver dependable marine performance in demanding coastal environments. It represents the first major step in our long-term mission: creating practical marine technology that can operate where conventional systems fall short. The Rán System, now in development, reflects the next stage of that vision. Designed as an autonomous marine cleanup platform for marinas and harbors, Rán is intended to support cleaner, safer working waters through practical automation and field-ready design. One of its core goals is to support oil spill response around leaking ships and offshore infrastructure, extending surface cleanup capabilities from sheltered harbors to more demanding open-water environments.
Its dual-platform concept pairs broad-area collection with targeted debris and contaminant retrieval, extending our commitment to technology that serves both industry needs and environmental stewardship.
At Volknut Engineering, we are not interested in complexity for its own sake. We build systems that can be understood, maintained, repaired, and trusted. Our goal is to create marine tools that make a measurable difference—first through dependable commercial deployment, and over time through a growing family of purpose-built systems that help protect the waters they work in.
